Questions

Frequently asked
questions.

How does Semoty authenticate luxury items?

Every item that enters our platform is physically inspected by our authentication team before it is ever listed. We run a five-point check covering serial numbers, hardware and engravings, stitching and leather, receipts or proof of provenance, and original packaging. Items that fail any of those checks are returned to the seller — they never reach the buyer.

Where in Nigeria is Semoty available?

Phase 1 covers Lagos, Abuja (FCT), and Port Harcourt. Every state is open to waitlist signups — we work our way across the country as our authenticator network expands. Waitlist members get priority when we open in their state.

How much does it cost to sell on Semoty?

Sellers pay a flat 10% commission on the final sale price. There are no listing fees, no authentication fees, and no hidden charges. Pickup, storage, and shipping are included. You only pay if your item actually sells.

How fast do sellers get paid?

Sellers are paid within 48 hours of a completed sale, directly to their Nigerian bank account via Paystack. We don't hold your money in escrow beyond the buyer-inspection window.

What if I buy something that isn't authentic?

It won't happen — every item is physically authenticated before it goes live. In the unlikely case that anything doesn't match its listing description, Semoty's buyer protection gives you a full refund. No arguments, no chargebacks needed.

Who can sell on Semoty?

Any Nigerian resident who completes BVN verification. This is how we keep the marketplace safe on both sides — every seller is a real, identifiable person. Individual resellers are welcome; you don't need to be a dealer.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Semoty supports Buy Now, Pay Later on eligible items with 4 to 12 installment plans at 0% interest, subject to eligibility. You see the installment options at checkout.

What brands do you accept?

We accept most major luxury houses across bags, watches, fine jewellery, shoes, and clothing — including Hermès, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, Rolex, Cartier, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Omega, Tiffany & Co., and more. If you're unsure whether your item qualifies, submit it and we'll tell you.
