Welcome to Semoty. By accessing or using our website and services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.

1. About Semoty

Semoty is an authenticated luxury resale marketplace that connects buyers and sellers of pre-owned luxury goods. We physically inspect and verify every item listed on our platform to ensure authenticity.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Semoty. By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and complete. Sellers on our platform must complete BVN (Bank Verification Number) verification before listing items.

3. User Accounts

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• One person may not operate multiple accounts without prior approval

4. For Buyers

• All items listed on Semoty have been physically inspected and authenticated by our team
• Product images and descriptions are provided as accurately as possible; minor variations may occur
• Prices are listed in Nigerian Naira (₦) unless otherwise stated
• Once a purchase is confirmed, cancellation is only permitted within the window specified at checkout
• Buyer protection applies to all orders — if an item does not match its description, you are entitled to a full refund

5. For Sellers

• All sellers must complete identity verification (BVN) before listing items
• Items submitted for listing must be authentic and accurately described
• Semoty will arrange free doorstep pickup for inspection and authentication
• Items that fail authentication will be returned to the seller at no cost
• Sellers are paid within 48 hours of a completed sale via Paystack
• Semoty charges an 8% commission on each successful sale
• Listing counterfeit goods is strictly prohibited and will result in permanent account suspension

6. Authentication & Inspection

Every item undergoes a 5-point inspection process covering serial numbers, hardware, stitching, receipts, and packaging. Items that do not pass inspection will not be listed. Semoty's authentication decision is final.

7. Payments

• We accept payments via card, bank transfer, and buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) options
• BNPL plans are subject to eligibility checks and may carry terms from our partner providers
• All transactions are processed securely through our payment partners
• Buyers bear no hidden fees — the listed price is the final price

8. Shipping & Delivery

• Semoty handles all logistics including pickup from sellers and delivery to buyers
• Delivery timelines will be communicated at checkout and may vary by location
• Risk of loss transfers to the buyer upon confirmed delivery
• Items must be inspected upon receipt; any issues must be reported within 48 hours

9. Returns & Refunds

• If an item does not match its listing description, buyers may request a return within 48 hours of delivery
• Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5–7 business days
• Items must be returned in the same condition as received
• Change-of-mind returns are not accepted unless otherwise stated

10. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• List or sell counterfeit, stolen, or illegal goods
• Provide false or misleading information
• Circumvent the platform to conduct direct transactions
• Use the platform for money laundering or fraudulent activities
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users

11. Intellectual Property

All content on Semoty — including logos, text, graphics, and design — is the property of Semoty and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

12. Limitation of Liability

Semoty acts as a marketplace facilitator. While we authenticate items and facilitate transactions, we are not liable for:

• Disputes between buyers and sellers beyond our stated policies
• Loss or damage caused by third-party delivery services
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our platform

13. Modifications

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of Semoty after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria.
